Fostering with Families First

Foster parents change the lives of children and young people

Families First Fostering is a small family owned and run Independent Fostering Agency. We believe that every child has a right to a safe and secure family and that by providing excellent support and training to our Foster Parents 24/ 7 enables them to provide this.

Why Foster?

What is fostering?

Children and young people come into foster care for all kinds of reasons. For many their main care giver (parent) is not physically or emotionally available to care for them. For others they have suffered abuse and neglect at the hands of their main care givers or have not been kept safe or given what they need to grow-up and achieve what other children have.

However, for whatever reason children and young people enter the care system, many will have suffered trauma and loss. For this reason, foster parents are needed to offer safe, loving and compassionate care for these children.

Who can Foster?

You do not need any special qualifications to be a foster parent. We look for many different types of families to meet the diverse needs of our children. many types of families are foster parents regardless of their age, ethnicity, relationship status, sexuality, age, gender, number of children or household income.

What are the must items?

  • Honesty throughout the assessment process

  • That you have a spare bedroom

  • You are a British citizen or have permanent leave to stay

  • You can foster full-time, or your work must be very flexible

  • You are at least 21 (No upper age limit)
